Baby Care

At Kowhai Kids we understand that trusting someone else to look after your precious baby is a big step, so we go out of our way at The Nest to provide an environment where you will know your baby is safe, happy and cared for.

We provide either in centre care or if you prefer care in an in-home environment, then we will find you the perfect educarer.

All of our baby teachers / educarers are chosen for their love and affinity with babies. Our aim is to provide your little one with the nurturing that they would get from you !

Sleep routines are so important to a babies development, therefore at our baby centre, The Nest, we provide two separate sleeping areas (darkened and playing soft music) so as to encourage good sleeping patterns.

Our teachers and our In home educarers will work with you to ensure that your little one keeps to the same sleep routines you follow at home.

Meals at our Warkworth centre are provided. Communal morning & afternoon teas and lunch often see our little ones trying new foods, taste and texture sensations.

If your mornings are a little rushed and you have to drop off before 8.30am we can feed your baby a breakfast that you provide.

Our In Home educarers are happy to heat the food you provide and feed your baby at your advised meal times.

We are happy to work with you on any dietary / allergy concerns you have.

Nappies - Our Warkworth centre provides all nappies.

You will need to provide your In Home Educarer with nappies.

Nurturing and Respect - At Kowhai Kids we practise the RIE philosophy, which promotes respect for the infant. For example explaining to your baby what is happening and asking permission, i.e. Can I wipe your face now” or “Lets change your nappy now”. We find that this approach encourages individuality and creativity as well as exposing your little one to language and new words.

Settling In - We understand that settling your baby into a new routine and environment can often be harder on dad or mum than baby. So we encourage you to spend as much time with us at the centre or at your In Home educarers house as you need to feel comfortable. While your baby is settling in we will keep in contact with you so as to lessen any separation anxiety. You are also welcome to call us as often as you wish.

On going training - All our staff have first aid certificates and regularly attend ongoing training in health and safety and child development.
