The Kereru Room
Preschoolers
When children are ready, they move to the Kereru Room until they leave the centre for the next chapter in their learning journey at school. In this room we operate on a ratio of 1 teacher for 8 children.
At this age, children are encouraged to be responsible for their own decisions – implementing, creating and completing a task. The child initiated philosophy provides a meaningful, quality education. It allows children to interact independently, co-operatively, and thoughtfully. The programme enhances self-esteem and ensures that all children are able to develop to their full potential.
As children get closer to five, we ensure they are prepared for their next step into the school environment. We work on extending skills such as planning and active enquiry, group co-operation and social skills, as well as literacy, numeracy and problem solving skills.
