At Kowhai Kids, we believe in the power of early childhood education to develop young minds and set the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Our mission is to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can grow, explore, be safe and thrive.
We have a programme that through play encourages children to be inquisitive, curious, and have an open mind, and takes a holistic approach to each child – socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally.
We provide a welcoming and learning rich environment that is safe, caring and secure for all children. Our passionate, qualified and experienced teachers (many of whom are parents too), see children as active participants in their own learning, and act as facilitators to recognise and support this learning.
Hours
We are open from 7.00am until 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. We offer half day (mornings or afternoons up to 4 hours) short day bookings (8.30am to 3.30pm) up to full day bookings. Child are required to attend for a minimum of two days per week to enable them to settle into centre routines.
Curriculum
We value Te Whariki, the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, as the framework which defines visions for learners and “the promise that all children will be empowered to learn with and alongside others by engaging in experiences that have meaning for them”. We believe using this framework will uphold experiences that enrich children’s lives and utilise it as a vital implement in our centre life.
Location
We are conveniently located in the Rosedale / Albany area. Our childcare centre is licensed for up to 80 children spread across 3 rooms. We warmly welcome Babies / Infants, Toddlers and Preschool children.
20 hours ECE and WINZ Subsidies
At Kowhai Kids, we believe that every child deserves access to quality education and care. We understand that managing childcare costs can be a concern for many families.
We are committed to working with families to make childcare more affordable through programs like the WINZ Subsidy and the 20 Hours ECE program. Two programs that can help alleviate the financial burden.
Meals
At Kowhai Kids we believe that healthy, balanced nutrition is very important for all children. We have a centre cook on-site who prepares our menu and food each day. We are committed to nut-free premises, use free-range eggs, minimise refined sugar and cater to all sorts of allergies and preferences. Please feel free to ask us about our menus and specifics for your child.
Communication
Each child at Kowhai Kids has an online ‘Storypark’ portfolio recording their learning experiences at the centre. It allows us to showcase their learning progress, capture memorable moments, and reflect on their achievements. The portfolio becomes a valuable keepsake that you and your child can cherish, creating a lasting record of their early education.
